November 2008 general election with 62,579 votes in first political campaign

debates and forums at the Portland City Club and the League of Women Voters
• Worked with consultants and pollsters, gaining considerable insight into the political process
• Endorsed by the Portland Tribune, the Democratic Party, AFL-CIO and Stand for Children
• Earned $350,000 for the campaign from the City of Portland as a publicly financed candidate
