Make a Ripple!

"Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance."

  Equality, Freedom, and Justice

Charles Lewis announced his candidacy for Portland City Council stating that he believes there “is an on-going struggle for equality, freedom, and justice.”

Announcing on the day that his hero, Robert Kennedy, was assassinated, Charles was symbolically picking up a fallen torch to help light the way in his own effort to help every member of our community have a voice in government.

“I have two openly gay brothers whom I love very much,” said Lewis.  “Growing up together, I saw some of the struggles they faced because of their orientation.”

"I don’t view the world in terms of people’s orientation,” said Charles, "only in terms of what we all can contribute to the vitality of our amazing community.”
